staycation

we have been planning our time away for months, kind of like you plan and anticipate christmas. before we had children we would celebrate our 1/2 anniversary, but kids kind of put a damper on that. i kind of look at anniversaries as a fun excuse to get away with your greatest friend and pretend like you don't have any responsibilities- everybody needs that!

i love that my parents taught my sister and i the significance of celebrating and spending time with your spouse. i can remember my mom and dad traveling to hawaii every 5 years, just the two of them. i am hoping stew and i get to follow in their foot steps. i've already started the countdown and the counting of pennies to our next maui vacation- 4 more years!!

thursday morning we hit the road, leaving behind our two favorite children with my mom and my aunt to fend for themselves. my aunt graciously gave up her home in the orange county area so that we could have a vacation without the cost. it was unbelievable! my parents gave us some spending money and my aunt hooked us up with a plethora of gift cards to some of our favorite eating spots- it truly felt like christmas! we spent our 4 day getaway eating(way too much), playing and sleeping. i am pretty sure i fell asleep every time we sat down in front of the t.v.

here are a few snapshots from our "staycation"...

dinner at roy's. we have managed to eat here every year (thanks to my aunt) aside from our 3rd anniversary when we were in the hospital meeting isaac for the first time.

what's a trip without a flat tire? the good news is we got to see salt while we waited for the repair. love when the timing works out.
